One day, as a secretary visited the White House and was about to enter the Presidential office,
he spotted a man crouched in a corner of the hallway.
Upon closer inspection, the secretary realized it was none other than the President himself.

Having heard some people criticize the President, saying,
'The President is a country bumpkin with no class',
the secretary felt compelled to address this issue with the President.
"It may not be a good idea for the President to be seen shining his own shoes, as it could cause controversy."

The President responded with a gentle smile, saying,
"Humph, is shining one's own shoes something to be ashamed of?
Don't you think your perception is flawed?
It's crucial to remember that the President is a public servant working for the people."

He then continued, addressing the secretary again,
"There is no such thing as a lowly task in this world.
Only people with lowly hearts exist."

This is an anecdote about Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.
In an era marked by prevalent discrimination based on social status, race, and gender,
President Lincoln's emphasis on character over social standing is truly impressive.

We too hope for a leader who doesn't lord over the people,
but rather connects with them on their level,
and who works towards creating a society free from discrimination...
We earnestly hope and desire that such a warm-hearted individual will lead the Republic of Korea.

Quote of the Day

I have a great desire to see the end of my life, and to know that I have done all that I can to make the world a better place.
